Robust Registration and Template Estimation

mri_robust_register
mri_robust_register is a program to register two 3D images (e.g. head MRI scans). It creates an unbiased inverse consistent registration and yields higher accuracy than state of the art registration tools (such as FLIRT or the tool in SPM).

mri_robust_template is a program to register several 3D images (e.g. head MRI scans) and simultaneously create an unbiased template image. It is based on the robust inverse consistent registration algorithm.

  • Designed for longitudinal processing
  • Ignores outlier voxel (robust statistics)
  • Mean or median template
  • Unbiased template space and image

Both programs are part of the FreeSurfer software package. The version on this web page is a snapshot (04.10.2010) of the dev environment. You can use these tools without downloading the full FreeSurfer package, but you need to have a FreeSurfer License. You need to set the environment variable FREESURFER_HOME to the directory containing the license file.
