Our paper (Increase Asymmetries in Dementia for Hippocampus and Amygdala) is accepted in Brain. Using sensitive shape anaysis we show increased asymmetries in several structures and demonstrate improved classification accuracy when including shape asymmetry features.

Our classifier based on BrainPrint won the second place of the computer-aided diagnosis of dementia (CADDementia) Challenge at MICCAI'10 indicating that features based on shape and brain symmetry are powerful biomarkers of AD.

Our robust registration paper Highly Accurate Inverse Consistent Registration: A Robust Approach is published in NeuroImage. This inverse consistent registration software can ignore outlier regions of change and yields highly accurate rigid registrations. It is used in FreeSurfer for motion correction of within-session scans and in the longitudinal stream.

The ShapeDNA Software is available for download (Linux and Mac OS) to the research community. It can compute eigenvalues and eigenfucntions of arbitrary meshes with up to cubic FEM.

The paper Laplace-Beltrami spectra as "Shape-DNA" of surfaces and solids (JCAD 2006) has won the "Most Cited Paper Award" of the Computer-Aided Design Journal [2009_most_cited_cad.pdf]. We used the Eigenvalues as an isometry-invariant shape descriptor and use the heat trace to extract geometric information from the spectrum.
